Casa del Valle
CASA del Valle is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing youth with the opportunity to be heard and represented by a strong advocate within the court system. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, and functions by forming a wholistic understanding of a child's situation by working with the child, family and professionals involved in a dependency and neglect case and using that understanding to represent the best interests of the child. Currently there are CASA programs operating all throughout the United States and CASA del Valle is the newest program to Colorado which has CASA advocates serving in 18 of the 22 Judicial Districts currently. In a national report, Alamosa county and the San Luis Valley region was specifically named as being in dire need of a CASA program. Despite its relatively small population, our county has the 2nd highest rate of dependency and neglect cases in the State of Colorado. It is for this reason that we are excited to step up and take on the challenge of giving a voice to the youth in our community, but we can't do it without the support of local community members like you!
